English Extension 2

In the Library

  • You can find copies of the Young Writers' Showcase in the HSC Information area shelves on LG2 in the Governor Marie Bashir Reading Room.
  • This series contains a broad selection of the highest scoring major works presented by English Extension 2 students from 2011 to current.
  • They include short stories, poetry, critical responses and scripts plus a reflection statement from each student about their creative process.

Using the library catalogue for Extension 2: Catalogue Browse

Use the library catalogue to find publications and criticism in your chosen genre, and writing guidebooks. Click on Browse above the search bar to browse subject headings. Options include browsing by nationality, authorship, historical period or genre alone. For example:

  • Authorship – Handbooks, manuals, etc
  • Short stories, American
  • Poetry authorship
  • Television authorship
  • Speeches, addresses, etc, Australian
  • Playwriting
  • Screenplays

For example:

You can then limit the results by date of publication (eg. 1995 – 2018) to view more recent publications.

  • This journal combines critical and creative work, providing a forum to read about the process and techniques of writing of all genres. Alongside these critical works are stories, poems, works of creative non-fiction, novel extracts, writing for the stage or screen, and other creative pieces.
  • Find this journal in the database Literary Reference Center Plus. Choose Publications and search to find the journal title, then browse any issue. You can also click Search within this publication, change to an Advanced search and search by genre; for example: creative nonfiction; prose poetry; screenwriting; scriptwriting; memoir; storytelling; film.
