Search across seven different literary collections, including Literature Resource Center, to find literary criticism, scholarly essays, reviews, overviews, author biographies and full-text literary works.
JSTOR (Arts & Sciences Collection) [eresource]
Search for full-text scholarly articles from many international literature journals. An excellent source for literary criticism and analysis of authors, genres and creative writing forms. It includes a tool called JSTOR Understanding Series – choose a passage from a text and instantly see articles and chapters quoting that passage.
ProQuest Research Library [eresource]
Search by title or author to find academic literary articles about your works. Use the Advanced search and add extra keywords to find articles on an aspect of the work eg. A Doll’s House AND feminism. Refine your results by using limits such as Full text – to read full articles online or Peer reviewed – to find high quality academic articles.
Poetry & Short Story Reference Center (EBSCO) [eresource]
Search this database for literary criticism, reviews, and interviews with poets and short fiction writers, both historical and contemporary. It features analyses of individual poems, poetry showcases on contemporary American poets, and selected stories and poems in full text. Featured writers include Katherine Mansfield, Tracy K Smith and Seamus Heaney.
Literature in Context (Cambridge) [eresource]
Each volume focuses on an individual writer, with essays that consider the various contexts within which the author lived and worked - the literary, political, intellectual, social and cultural contexts. Includes major writers like George Eliot, John Keats and Dante, and significant contemporary authors such as Elizabeth Bishop, Thomas Pynchon and Tom Stoppard.
